Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu about the Republic of Moldova's reintegration plan
A plan for the reintegration of the Republic of Moldova is on the authorities' attention, but its implementation requires the fulfilment of strict conditions and the mobilization of significant financial resources, which the country cannot cover. The statement was made by the Parliament Speaker, Igor Grosu, during the "La 360 de grade" program on Radio Moldova.

According to Igor Grosu, for the project implementation, it is essential to replace the current peacekeeping mission on the left bank of the Nistru with a civilian one, under the aegis of the UN or the EU.
"It should be a civilian mission, not a military one because it has not demonstrated its efficiency in bringing the two banks closer together. The second part is the high costs, but I will not give figures, we are also in the process of identifying these resources, we alone cannot assume them, I am referring to the budgetary resources of the Republic of Moldova, but there is understanding and openness from external development partners, first of all understanding because a financial effort is needed to amortize those costs and one of these costs is the energy one. Everything that the left bank means for 30 years has become an organism dependent on the resource for free, which cannot be endless. "Waiting or building a reintegration scenario on the premise that price policies on the left bank are not adjusted is a utopia," Grosu said.
Asked if this plan will be implemented until the Republic of Moldova joins the European Union, the Parliament Speaker said that EU accession and reintegration are two processes that must be treated separately.
"They are two vehicles that go at their own speeds. In the EU integration process, we have to move and the vehicle has a much better speed and must move very quickly and be a motivation for the left bank as well. This reintegration plan remains valid after EU accession," Grosu said.
We remind you that the authorities in Chisinau have repeatedly stated that the reintegration of the Republic of Moldova can take place exclusively through diplomatic dialogue. Previously, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Oleg Serebrian, said in an interview with Radio Moldova that the social and economic reintegration of the Transnistrian region has experienced significant acceleration in the last two years, but additional efforts are needed to achieve the established objectives.
