Universitatea Craiova beats Universitatea Cluj 1-0 in tense match

The Transylvanian club lost their away match against CS Universitatea Craiova with a score of 0-1.

The Oltenian team made a perfect start to their match in Craiova, with Alex Mitriță opening the score from the penalty spot in the 10th minute.

Universitatea Cluj missed a massive opportunity to equalize just before the end of the first half. The Transylvanians were awarded a penalty as well, but Dan Nistor missed it, marking his first miss in this season's championship.

Shortly after the break, the visitors were reduced to ten men. Iulian Cristea was sent off for a second yellow card offense. By the end of the match, the Cluj team failed to equalize.

At Universitatea Cluj, Vladislav Blănuță, born in Moldova, started the match as a starter but was substituted in the second half, while the Moldovan international Vadim Rață remained on the bench.

In another match in the same round, CFR Cluj defeated Hermannstadt Sibiu 1-0. The hosts scored the only goal of the game in the 43rd minute, when Nkololo crossed into the box, and Louis Munteanu scored with a volley from 6 meters.

After 25 rounds, Universitatea Cluj-Napoca and Dinamo Bucharest share the first two spots with 44 points each, but they can be overtaken by FCSB if they win tonight, away to Petrolul Ploiești. CFR Cluj-1907 is in 3rd place with 43 points, while CSU Craiova has one point less, in 4th place.
