European Parliament and EU member states agreed on a new support plan for the Republic of Moldova
The European Parliament (EP), the European Commission (EC) and the European Council have reached an agreement on the Growth Facility for the Republic of Moldova. The announcement was made by Romanian MEP Dan Barna, who described the EU decision as a “historic moment” for our country.

"The financing of almost 2 billion euros for Chisinau will be provided under very good conditions, with pre-financing of 18%, and the Commission estimates that it could be transferred as early as April. Europe needs firm action, and the Facility is the best example", the MEP wrote on his Facebook page.
According to a statement of the European Parliament, this facility aims to support the Republic of Moldova in its EU accession process and in carrying out EU-related reforms, as well as in achieving economic convergence with the EU. The facility will also contribute to the implementation of the EU’s Global Strategy for Energy Independence and Resilience of the Republic of Moldova, which aims to decouple the Republic of Moldova from the insecurity of energy supplies from Russia and its full integration into the EU energy market.
“We are determined to support Moldova on its path to EU accession; it is our duty in these turbulent times. This package will help Moldovans implement key reforms, strengthen their economy, and advance their integration into the EU single market. It will also support the Republic of Moldova’s resilience in response to the impact caused by Russia’s unjust war of aggression against Ukraine,” said Adam Szlápka, Poland’s Minister for European Affairs.
We remind you that, on October 10, 2024, the European Commission presented a Growth Plan for the Republic of Moldova, which is based on three pillars: supporting Moldova's socio-economic and fundamental reforms, improving Moldova's access to the EU single market, and increasing financial support in the period 2025-2027 through a Reform and Growth Facility dedicated to our country. This is "the most extensive package of financial support provided to the Republic of Moldova since independence".
