Over 60 million lei for research: Ministry of Education launches five scientific project competitions

Researchers from the Republic of Moldova, especially young people, can apply until April 4 to 5 scientific project competitions, with a total budget of over 60 million lei. These were launched today by the Ministry of Education and Research together with the National Agency for Research and Development. The projects will be evaluated in April-May, and the results will be validated in June.

The projects will be carried out in the period 2025-2026 and aim to support researchers from various fields through significant funding, said Minister Dan Perciun.

"There will be projects dedicated to young researchers, in the amount of 22.5 million lei, projects to stimulate excellence in research, in the amount of 24 million lei, innovation vouchers, in the amount of 4 million lei and projects dedicated to increasing the capacity to write and win projects within the Horizon Europe program, in the amount of 4 million lei. There will also be, for the first time, projects dedicated to collaboration with Our Scientific Diaspora, in the amount of 10 million lei. In mid-March, we will announce two separate calls, dedicated to technology transfer and smart specialization, with an additional budget of 40 million lei", said the Minister of Education.

To support researchers, their salaries increased by 21% in 2024, and scholarships for doctoral students were doubled and reached 4,400 lei per month. Also, the second call for complex bilateral projects with Romania was launched, attracting 290 proposals with a total budget of about 4.5 million euros, of which the Republic of Moldova will contribute 500 thousand euros.
