Damage to a high-pressure gas pipeline in Ungheni: over a thousand households affected

Over a thousand consumers in the Ungheni and Nisporeni districts risk being left without natural gas after a high-pressure gas pipeline was damaged near the village of Alexeevca. The incident occurred on February 20, 2025, around 2:00 p.m., during installation works for a photovoltaic park.

According to Moldovagaz, an economic operator carried out the works based on a construction permit issued by the Alexeevca commune's City Hall, but without coordination with the distribution operator. Thus, the gas pipeline's protection zone was violated, which led to the damage to the gas pipeline. The affected localities are Alexeevca, Cetireni, Unțești, Pîrlita, Florițoaia Veche and Manoilești in Ungheni district, as well as Milesti and Bălănești in Nisporeni district.

In this context, the company draws attention to the importance of respecting the protection zones of gas networks and the need to coordinate the work with the distribution operators to avoid incidents that may endanger the safety of the population.

We remind you that a similar incident recently occurred near the Fundul Galbenei locality. At that time, over 6,000 consumers from eight localities were left without natural gas following the damage to a high-pressure gas pipeline.
