Seven cases of measles registered since the start of the year
Seven cases of measles were reported since the start of the year. According to the National Public Health Agency (ANSP), six cases were registered in Chisinau and one case in Cimișlia.

All the people who fell ill were unvaccinated and contracted the disease in Romania and Ukraine.
Also, ANSP announced that last year, 216 cases of measles were registered in our country. Most were confirmed in Chisinau, Singerei, Straseni and Balti, and 90% of the registered measles cases were in unvaccinated children.
Measles is a highly contagious viral infection which can lead to serious complications, such as middle ear infection, laryngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, encephalitis, meningoencephalitis, panencephalitis, and even death. There is no specific treatment for measles, but we can prevent the disease through vaccination. Specialists reiterate that in the Republic of Moldova, measles vaccination is carried out for free, at the age of 12 months, 6-7 years and 15-16 years.
