Celebrating Eugen Doga's 88th birthday and his musical legacy
Moldovan composer and academician Eugen Doga is celebrating his 88th birthday today, March 1st.

Every spring begins with the anniversary of the renowned composer Eugen Doga, as noted by the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, in her congratulatory message.
“I wish the Maestro health, peace, and inspiration, along with our deep gratitude for all that he has given us through his music. We are fortunate to be contemporaries of a musical genius, whose creations fill our hearts with love, kindness, and wisdom. Happy Birthday, Maestro!” reads the message from Maia Sandu.
Eugen Doga was born on March 1, 1937, in the village of Mocra, on the left bank of the Dniester River. A People’s Artist, National Prize laureate, and recipient of the Order of the Republic, Eugen Doga is one of the most prominent figures in Moldovan culture. He is widely recognized and celebrated around the world for his diverse musical contributions across various genres.
The celebrated composer has written music for nearly 200 films, including romances, cantatas, instrumental works, symphonies, pop songs, and more. His famous composition from the film Tender and Gentle My Wild Beast is often referred to as “the most beautiful love waltz of the 20th century.”
