The number of acute respiratory infections is increasing in Chisinau
The number of acute respiratory infections is rising in Chișinău, with 4,517 cases reported in the last week—370 more than the previous period, announced Vladimir Bolocan, head of the General Directorate for Medical and Social Assistance, during a Chișinău City Hall meeting on March 3. According to Bolocan, hospitals are operating at full capacity, but the situation is under control.

"Of all cases detected in adults, up to 52 percent of cases require hospitalization, and in terms of infections detected in children, around 32 percent of cases require hospitalization. We are currently operating at full capacity, but the situation is under control. The beds are almost fully occupied, but we are monitoring admissions and discharges," said Vladimir Bolocan.
In this context, the municipal health authorities announced that they are preparing a set of recommendations for primary and specialized medical institutions, aimed at reducing the spread of infections. It will also be proposed to restrict visits to hospitals, to protect patients and visitors from getting sick.
