Over the past week, approximately 10,300 cases of acute upper respiratory tract infections were reported in the Republic of Moldova, with six out of ten patients being children. According to the National Public Health Agency, the level of morbidity was classified as medium intensity, which is 2% lower than the previous week but shows a 40% increase compared to the same period last season.

Between February 24 and March 2, a total of 478 cases of seasonal flu were reported, with the majority—346 cases— in Chișinău. The lowest number of cases was recorded in Cimișlia, Drochia, Hâncești, Soroca, and Telenești, each reporting just two cases. Additionally, one case each was reported in Basarabeasca, Ocnița, and Strașeni. Overall, the national incidence of seasonal flu has decreased by 3% compared to the previous week.

During the past week, four cases of COVID-19 were also reported, marking a 50% decrease from the previous week. Among these cases, one was found in a child under 14.

Specialists from the Nationa Public Health Agency (ANSP) recommend adherence to protective measures to prevent seasonal viruses, including flu, and to ensure early detection of such illnesses. Public and private healthcare institutions are advised to implement measures such as limiting visitor access and requiring staff and visitors to wear protective masks.
