A new wave of Saharan dust will cover the Republic of Moldova today. Specialists' recommendations

A cloud of Saharan dust is expected to reach Romania and the Republic of Moldova today, March 11, due to the movement of air masses from the southwest, according to the Environment Agency. The State Hydrometeorological Service reports that high temperatures and the presence of a stationary cyclone will help keep the dust particles suspended in the atmosphere for several days.

Current measurements show that pollutant levels are within acceptable limits; however, experts caution that there may be temporary increases in suspended particles.

Rain is forecasted for March 13, which is expected to help improve air quality.

Authorities are actively monitoring the situation and will provide regular updates. Experts recommend that vulnerable individuals, such as children and the elderly, avoid outdoor walks and physical activities during this period.

The last recorded increase in Saharan dust in the air over the Republic of Moldova occurred in October of last year.
