Maia Sandu: We must work tirelessly to join the EU soon

President Maia Sandu announced today from the Parliament that the Republic of Moldova's accession to the European Union should not be delayed for 10 to 20 years, but should be achieved within the next four years. She emphasized that this move is crucial for ensuring a secure and prosperous future for citizens. Despite the internal challenges the country faces, President Sandu stated that the key to stability and economic growth lies in European integration, which will offer protection and security to the population.
"Sometimes, in the rush of daily life, we forget what matters most. The most important thing we need to focus on is preserving peace and freedom. We must protect peace because life is our most precious asset. We must also safeguard our freedom, so we can live with dignity, knowing that no one will forcibly remove us from our homes in the middle of the night or exile us to distant places. We want our young people to express their opinions without fear of imprisonment, and we don’t want to be isolated from the world by border closures.
This is the essence of living in freedom. Dear citizens, as we consider all that demands our attention, let us remember what we truly desire above all else. Amidst our internal contradictions, resentments, and differences, let’s unite on a common path that ensures three crucial outcomes: peace and security for our families, stability and national unity, and economic development and well-being.
There is no doubt that we can achieve peace and freedom more easily once we join the European Union. Within that community, we will find protection, much like being part of a large, loving family. Therefore, we must continue to work tirelessly to become EU members soon", declared Maia Sandu.
