Pope Francis died Monday from stroke: Vatican

The Vatican announced that Pope Francis died following a stroke that led to a coma and irreversible heart failure, AP and Reuters reported.

According to the Vatican's physician, Andrea Arcangeli, the detail was included in the Pope's death certificate.

The certificate, which was published by the Vatican, indicates that the Pope entered a coma before he died Monday morning.

Andrea Arcangeli stated that Pope Francis suffered from episodes of respiratory insufficiency and had bilateral pneumonia, as well as Type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.

Pope Francis died Monday morning.
