Maia Sandu after the meeting with Antonio Tajani: Moldova values Italy's strong support

On the sidelines of the European People's Party (EPP) Congress held in Valencia, President Maia Sandu held talks with Italian Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani. During the event, the head of state is scheduled to hold several meetings with European leaders.

"A good meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani. Moldova appreciates Italy's firm support for our European path and for strengthening the country's resilience. We aim to develop our cooperation and achieve concrete results for our citizens", declared President Maia Sandu.

We remind that, from April 27 to 29, the Head of State is paying a visit to the Kingdom of Spain, where she is participating in the Congress of the European People's Party, organized in the city of Valencia.

During the event, Maia Sandu will deliver a speech and have meetings with European leaders, heads of state and government, to strengthen political support for the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union. Other priorities are economic cooperation and deepening bilateral relations with partner countries.

Currently, the Agreement on the Conversion of Driving Licenses is in force between the Republic of Moldova and Italy, and the Agreement on Social Protection will take effect after the ratification procedures are completed, reads a press release of the Presidency.

With Spain, our country has two important agreements with direct benefits for Moldovan citizens - the one regarding the conversion of driving licenses and the one on social protection, both of which entered into force in 2024, the cited source states.
