As of Sunday, May 18, near noon, over one hundred thousand voters had cast their ballots at the 64 polling stations open in the Republic of Moldova for the second round of the presidential elections in Romania, according to real-time data from Romania's Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP).

Of these, most Moldovans cast their votes in the capital.

The number of voters in the Republic of Moldova by this hour already exceeds the total registered in the first round, when just over 90 thousand Moldovan citizens with dual citizenship voted during the three days of polling.

Voters from the Republic of Moldova are among the most active in the diaspora. High voter turnout is also being recorded in the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Spain, and France.

The voting process in the diaspora takes place over three days – Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. In the first two days, approximately 75 thousand people voted in the Republic of Moldova.

In total, by 12:00 PM, over 810 thousand Romanian citizens voted at the 965 polling stations organized abroad.
