George Simion to ask Romania’s Constitutional Court to annul presidential elections

George Simion, the president of the Alliance for the Unity of Romanians (AUR), announced on Tuesday that he would ask the Constitutional Court of Romania to annul the presidential elections, informs G4media.

"*We will act through legal means both domestically and internationally. For the reasons mentioned in the CCR decision of December 2024, I, as an electoral competitor, will write to the CCR and request the annulment of the elections," declared George Simion.

"It was about vote buying. 100 million votes was the budget for the Republic of Moldova alone for vote buying," claimed Simion.

He said that the French state was also involved.

"Social networks were manipulated and algorithms were used to influence voters", claimed Simion, who added that he would request a hearing from the Telegram founder.

"I understand that there are few chances that my request to the CCR will be accepted, but I ask all Romanians to contest the elections", said George Simion, who announced that he is making the CCR appeal model available to citizens.

Simion claimed that on Sunday night, he congratulated Nicușor Dan on winning the elections to avoid a "bloodbath" and because the number of votes in the ballot boxes was correct.

The Constitutional Court of Romania has also registered a complaint regarding the second round of the presidential elections held on May 18. The Association Center for Local Politics (CPL) announced that it has initiated legal procedures to cancel the second round, citing "serious electoral fraud", writes Hotnews.

We remind you that in the second round of the presidential elections on May 18, candidate Nicușor Dan won with 53.6% of the votes. He had a lead of 829,589 votes over George Simion, who obtained 46.4% of the votes of Romanians.
