Web pages with criminal content will be blocked

Web pages that contain information intended for the preparation or commission of crimes will be blocked. The government has approved new instructions that require the cessation of access to these online resources and the removal of the relevant information directly from the source. Authorities state that this measure is necessary because online platforms are also used for selling drugs.

The new regulation enables authorities to intervene swiftly and effectively in the digital space to prevent access to content that promotes violence, crime, and other forms of antisocial behavior.

"The authorized institution prepares a report on the examination of the page, and within 24 hours, the head of the institution issues an order regarding the removal of the content, if possible, or the cessation of access to the page. Access can be blocked, meaning that individuals who previously used Telegram for trading prohibited substances will no longer be able to access these stores," said Daniella Misail-Nichitin, the Minister of Internal Affairs.

According to data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, nearly five thousand cases of sexual exploitation, drug trafficking, and scams were reported in 2024.
