Expert on the National Accession Program of Moldova to EU: "It reflects Moldova’s full commitment agenda toward the European Union."

The National Programme for Accession to the European Union outlines the authorities' commitments for the next five years. This plan focuses on harmonizing national legislation with the acquis communautaire and implementing essential reforms in key areas such as justice, the economy, public administration, agriculture, the environment, education, and infrastructure. Experts indicate that executing this plan and meeting all its provisions will be a significant challenge.
According to Adrian Ermurachi, an expert at the Institute for European Policies and Reforms, this document is important because it outlines the full agenda of commitments necessary for the pre-accession process to the European Union. He emphasizes that authorities must make significant efforts to fulfill all reforms, which presents a major challenge.
"Implementing the Plan would signify that a considerable amount of homework has been completed, making it very important. Additionally, it is crucial for the Government, as it helps prioritize its actions in relation to the European Union. Clearly, the main challenge for the Government is not to overlook other documents it possesses. The Government is in a continuous reform process, especially now as it accelerates its efforts toward EU integration. It has other policy and planning documents that are equally important. Therefore, it's essential for the Government to synchronize its efforts and implement all these commitments," explained expert Adrian Ermurachi.
We remind you that during the meeting on Wednesday, May 28, the Government approved the National Program for Accession to the European Union for the period 2025–2029. The estimated cost of implementing this Program is around 66 billion lei. Funding will come from the state budget, external assistance, including EU funds, and other sources. The plan will be updated annually, starting in October, by incorporating the recommendations and benchmarks outlined in the European Commission's annual progress report, as well as other commitments made during negotiations for the Republic of Moldova's accession to the European Union.
