Nicanor Ciochină, accused in 14-year-old's death, narrowly wins Boldurești mayoral race

Independent candidate Nicanor Ciochină, who was accused of fatally hitting a 14-year-old child, received the most votes in the second round of local elections held in Boldurești commune, Nisporeni district.
According to preliminary results published by the Central Electoral Commission, Nicanor Ciochină secured victory with 50.53% of the votes, totaling 615 votes, narrowly surpassing his opponent, Sergiu Bulicanu, who received 49.47% (602 votes).
As stipulated by the Electoral Code, the candidate with the highest number of votes in the second round is declared the winner.
We remind you that Nicanor Ciochină is currently facing serious allegations, specifically the fatal injury of a 14-year-old child on the evening of February 19, 2024, and subsequently fleeing the scene. He is accused of attempting to conceal evidence related to the incident and evading criminal prosecution. Additionally, a doctor from Nisporeni is implicated in the case for allegedly assisting Ciochină in hiding the evidence. This doctor is under investigation but is not in custody and denies any wrongdoing.
