Mărculești International Airport set for modernization

The Mărculești International Airport is set to undergo modernization and receive essential infrastructure upgrades. This will enable the airport to handle both national and international passenger flights and cargo flights. The government approved a draft law to facilitate these improvements on Thursday.
The project involves transferring Mărculești Airport's administration to the management of the State Enterprise "Chisinau International Airport." This change is expected to enhance the coordination of activities and attract greater investments in modernizing the airport's infrastructure.
The goal is to transform Mărculești Airport into a modern and competitive aeronautical hub, potentially attracting investors and creating new business opportunities. This development will also facilitate the Republic of Moldova's integration into international air transport networks.
"Infrastructure is essential for driving economic development and productivity growth," emphasized Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
The development of Mărculești International Airport in the northern region of Moldova aims to stimulate growth in the entire area, generate new jobs, and improve facilities for travelers. As noted by the government, this initiative responds to the increasing demand for air transport services in our country.
Mărculești International Airport is located 150 kilometers from Chișinău, and its runway is currently operational.
