A 23-year-old woman escaped yesterday afternoon from Penitentiary No. 13 in Chisinau, as announced by the National Penitentiary Administration (ANP). Authorities are asking citizens to assist law enforcement in locating the woman, who has been missing for over 15 hours.

An inmate originally from Ukraine escaped from a penitentiary after damaging the bars on the window of the administrative block where she was undergoing training for work.

"Immediately following the incident, the penitentiary administration, in cooperation with the police, established a state of alert and initiated specific search efforts. We urge citizens: if you have any information regarding the inmate's whereabouts, please contact the 112 Service at 068 505 111, 076010102, or the ANP guard unit at 078 777 403," stated the National Penitentiary Administration (ANP).

The ANP has confirmed that it is working with all relevant institutions to clarify the circumstances of the escape and to return the inmate to custody.

We remind you that the young woman was sentenced to five years in prison by the Chisinau Court based in Buiucani at the end of March this year.

This marks the fifth escape from prisons in the Republic of Moldova within the last two months.
