New Romanian Foreign Minister expected in Chișinău. Mihai Popșoi: Romania remains Moldova’s closest partner

Romania continues to be the closest partner of the Republic of Moldova, and its support for the country's European integration, energy security, connectivity, and economic development is crucial. This statement was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popșoi, following a phone conversation with his Romanian counterpart, Oana Țoiu.

The head of diplomacy from Chișinău congratulated Oana Țoiu on her appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs and wished her much success in her new role.

Additionally, Popșoi invited the minister from Bucharest to visit the Republic of Moldova in the near future.

During their discussion, the two ministers agreed to strengthen the strategic partnership between their countries to benefit citizens on both sides of the Prut.

Oana Țoiu is a member of the Romanian Parliament representing the USR party. She was re-elected in 2024 after initially taking office in 2020. With a strong academic background in communication and public policy, she has made a name for herself through her work on parliamentary committees focused on labor, social protection, and combating human trafficking, as reported by Ziarul Financiar.

Before her current role, Oana Țoiu served as Secretary of State in the Ministry of Labor from 2016 to 2017, where she coordinated policies related to social assistance, social inclusion, and poverty alleviation. She graduated from the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Sciences at the University of Bucharest and completed an executive program in public policy at the Harvard Kennedy School.
