Vytautas Bruveris on Moldova 1 TV: “As long as the dictatorship exists in Iran, there will be no peace in the Middle East”

The conflict between Iran and Israel is a complex historical process driven by certain inevitable goals. Iran, as an aggressive theocracy, has a clear primary objective: the destruction of the state of Israel. This was stated by Lithuanian political analyst Vytautas Bruveris during the "Dimensiunea Diplomatica" program on Moldova 1. According to Bruveris, the situation in the Middle East is likely to continue escalating.
"Iran is an aggressive theocracy, an autocratic regime, and its main geopolitical and existential goal is clear: the destruction of the state of Israel. This is evident to all, as Iran not only makes these declarations but also actively takes steps towards this goal. It has attempted, particularly when it was stronger, to achieve this aim through various intermediary structures and forces, including terrorist organizations such as Hamas and, primarily, Hezbollah in Lebanon. Additionally, there is a nuclear component to consider. This regime, similar to its ally North Korea, is striving to produce nuclear weapons as quickly as possible, which would be primarily directed against its main enemies, especially Israel," declared the analyst on the show moderated by Ludmila Barbă.
According to Vytautas Bruveris, the Iranian regime in its current form and the state of Israel "simply cannot coexist on this planet." He believes that "it is only a matter of time before the situation escalates to a climax."
"It does not matter what the specific trigger will be; this is merely a detail. What is important is that Israel and its political elite recognize that as long as this theocratic Iranian regime exists, there will be no peace or stability, not just in Israel but throughout the entire Middle East. This is an objective reality. The regime must either collapse on its own or face a crushing external defeat—military or physical—that could trigger its fall from power," Bruveris explained.
He reiterated that this is not the first time Israel and Iran have exchanged hostilities, but the escalation is becoming increasingly pronounced. "Iran is the source of all problems in the Middle East. The situation changed dramatically when the United States became involved. Historically, the United States has been the main strategic ally of Israel and the region. If Israel initiates actions or enters into war and faces a geopolitical crisis, the United States remains its primary ally and reserve," he stated.
The conflict between Israel and Iran escalated on June 13, 2025, when Israel launched a surprise military operation targeting Iranian nuclear and military infrastructure, citing the threat of Tehran developing nuclear weapons. Iran responded immediately with hundreds of missiles and drones aimed at Israeli cities. In the aftermath of the hostilities, both sides reported hundreds of casualties and extensive damage, leading to direct U.S. involvement, which included strikes on Iranian nuclear sites on June 22.
