Moldovan students win 4 medals at physics olympiad

Students from the Republic of Moldova achieved outstanding results at the Balkan Physics Olympiad, held in Ohrid, North Macedonia, from June 26 to 30 this year, securing one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal.

The gold medal went to Alex Secrieru, a student at "Orizont" Theoretical High School in Chișinău.

Silver medalists include Victor Sandu and Vladislav Smochină, also from the same institution. The bronze medal was awarded to Alexandru Macovei, a student at "Prometeu-Prim" High School of Creativity and Inventics in Chișinău.

All medalists are tenth-grade students.

The seventh edition of the Balkan Physics Olympiad featured 62 students from 16 countries.

The Republic of Moldova was represented by the four medalists and their accompanying professors: Sergiu Cârlig, PhD in Physics, from the Institute of Applied Physics at Moldova State University; and Serghei Bâzgan, PhD in Physics, also from the Institute of Applied Physics at Moldova State University.
