EU grants boost Moldova's rural agri-food businesses

Nineteen rural businesses specializing in fruit and vegetable processing, meat production and preservation, oil and dairy manufacturing, baking and confectionery, and sweets and juice production have received grants of up to 383,000 Moldovan Lei from the European Union.

These funds, benefiting agri-food businesses, are earmarked for modernizing their production processes. This includes acquiring refrigeration equipment, ovens, oil presses, and packaging and labeling lines. Additionally, machinery for processing and storage will also be purchased.

This financial support, amounting to up to 383,000 MDL per grant, is provided through the "EU4Moldova: Resilient – Safe State, Strong Communities" project, implemented by Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova.

Project Manager Nicolae Soloviov emphasizes that these investments will contribute to job creation and enhance the quality of agri-food products.

The selection process for the businesses was conducted through an open call, organized in two stages. The first ten grant beneficiaries were identified in February 2025, with another nine businesses selected in June.

The total budget for this call for project proposals is approximately 7.3 million MDL.
