Chișinău condemns Ilan Shor’s congress in Moscow, calling it “an act of treason”

The authorities in Chisinau have condemned a political event that took place on July 6 in Moscow, organized by the "Victorie" bloc, which is affiliated with fugitive oligarch Ilan Shor. They labeled the event as "an act of treason." According to Government spokesman Daniel Vodă, the messages conveyed during the congress are part of a strategy to undermine the state of the Republic of Moldova, written "according to the Russian propaganda manual." This statement was made during a press conference.
*"The news has concluded across the Russian Federation, and the microphones of the federal press in this country focused on a convicted fugitive who is now being used as a mouthpiece for the Kremlin's interests in the Republic of Moldova. 'Those who plot against the people and the state will be held accountable before the law,' declared Daniel Vodă after the government meeting on July 9.
Additionally, the government representative emphasized that the future of the Republic of Moldova is determined exclusively by its people and reaffirmed that our state is firmly committed to the European path, with democratic institutions serving the citizens.
Following the organization of a recent congress, several political parties in Chisinau called on the authorities to ban the 'Victorie' Bloc from participating in the parliamentary elections and to investigate the involvement of Moldovan politicians in 'anti-state' actions.
The Liberal Party and the Moldovan National Party urged the Prosecutor General's Office and the Intelligence and Security Service to investigate and take necessary legal measures, drawing attention to the risk of external interference in the electoral process.
It is worth noting that on July 6, the 'Victorie' Bloc held a congress in Moscow, during which Ilan Shor announced the bloc's intention to participate in the parliamentary elections scheduled for September 28. He stated that the first candidate on their list would be the current Bashkan of Gagauzia, Evghenia Guțul, who is currently under investigation regarding the illegal financing of the former 'Shor' party. Shor also asserted that 'the only salvation for the Republic of Moldova is union with the Russian Federation.'
The event in Moscow was attended by various Moldovan politicians affiliated with the bloc, including deputies Marina Tauber and Vasile Bolea, as well as the mayor of Orhei, Tatiana Cociu, and several officials from Russia.*
