Maia Sandu warns of aggressive disinformation

President Maia Sandu has accused the Kremlin of attempting to destabilize the situation in the Republic of Moldova through a disinformation campaign. In a message posted on social media on Monday, she claimed that the "laboratories for fabricating falsehoods" began operating "at maximum speed." She warned that, in the near future, "lies will flow freely from the Kremlin's trumpets" in an effort to gain control over Moldova and place it under foreign interests.
“Those who kill children by deliberately dropping bombs on apartment buildings are trying to instill panic in Moldovans, as if I want war or intend to violate the country’s neutrality,” declared Maia Sandu, addressing recent misinformation.
The President reiterated that there is peace in the Republic of Moldova and emphasized that this peace will continue “as long as we remain committed to our European path.”
“A European present and future means that Moldovans have chosen, and will continue to choose, peace for our people. Only within the European Union can our country achieve long-term safety. This inhumane war undermines the very right to choose – it is imposed from outside with the intent to destroy life. Peace is a choice, and it is our choice. Moldova has made its decision: the European Union will be our common home. Moldovans have entrusted me with the responsibility to preserve peace and, together, to lead Moldova into the EU,” the President stated.
She also mentioned that a challenging period lies ahead, "but we will not fall into the trap of hatred and division, orchestrated in foreign laboratories."
Recently, a series of videos and posts promoting misinformation have surfaced online, many of which have been refuted by institutions in Chisinau. Authorities claim that these campaigns are part of a deliberate strategy to manipulate public opinion, aiming to induce fear, distrust, and division within society.
