112 Service: Over 170 daily calls amid heatwave and fires

Operators of the National Single Emergency Call Service 112 receive approximately 100 daily calls about medical emergencies caused by excessive heat and around 70 calls related to fires.

According to representatives of the institution, these figures indicate a significant increase in the number of calls processed daily due to the extremely high temperatures during this period.

In cases of medical emergencies related to the heatwave, the most commonly reported symptoms include headaches, dizziness, general weakness, sudden drops in blood pressure, rapid pulse, feeling faint, and shallow breathing.

Calls reporting fires, particularly those in areas with dry vegetation or open spaces, highlight outbreaks. These fires are often exacerbated by drought conditions, strong winds, and the failure to comply with regulations regarding outdoor burning.

All calls are processed in real-time and redirected to specialized intervention services.

In this context, representatives of the National Emergency Service remind the public that the emergency number 112 should only be called in emergencies that require immediate intervention.

Recently, meteorologists have repeatedly issued Code Yellow heatwave warnings, which are applicable throughout much of the country.

Health specialists urge the public to avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours and to stay hydrated by consuming plenty of fluids.

Additionally, the 112 Service operates continuously, ensuring prompt handling of calls and ongoing collaboration with intervention agencies.
