Moldova issues extreme heat warnings as temps soar

Meteorologists have issued a Yellow Code Heat Alert for the northern and central parts of Moldova, with an Orange Code Extreme Heat Warning in effect for the south.
These warnings are valid for Friday, July 25.
According to the State Hydrometeorological Service, maximum air temperatures are expected to reach +33°C to +35°C (91-95°F) in the north and center of the country.
In the southern part of Moldova, temperatures are forecast to climb to +36°C to +38°C (97-100°F).

The public is strongly advised to avoid outdoor activities between 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM, except in urgent cases.
Key Recommendations:
- Stay properly hydrated, consuming at least two liters of water daily.
- Avoid strenuous physical activity outdoors. If absolutely necessary, take frequent breaks in the shade.
- Never leave children unsupervised in enclosed spaces, such as vehicles, even for short periods.
- Do not dispose of lit cigarettes in dry grass or green areas, as this significantly increases the risk of fires.
Chisinau City Hall also advises the public to make use of the public cooling tents installed in crowded public places. Here you can get water and, if needed, receive assistance from medical staff. Medical personnel at these tents are also available to monitor blood pressure for individuals in at-risk groups.
In case of heat-related emergencies or problematic situations, residents are urged to call the unified emergency number 112.
