Drama and memory: “Homework Assignment” staged tonight in Great National Assembly Square

Citizens are invited to the Great National Assembly Square on the evening of Friday, July 25, to watch the open-air performance of “Homework Assignment”, staged by actors from the “Vasile Alecsandri” Theatre in Bălți. The play will begin at 8:00 PM, according to the Government.
The theatrical performance is based on the novel by Nicolae Dabija and tells the love story of Mihai and Maria, set in the heart of the Gulag—the brutal prison system of the communist regime.
“Homework Assignment” is a play about dignity, courage, love, and remembrance, shedding light on crimes against humanity: arrests, torture, executions, famine, and deportations.
"Let us remember. Let us look into the eyes of those who weep. Let us honor their memory with respect," urged Government spokesperson Daniel Vodă.
At the same time, visitors can also explore the “Train of Sorrow” exhibition in the Great National Assembly Square, dedicated to the victims of Soviet deportations.
The exhibition is open daily from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM until July 27.
