Bulgarian PM visits Moldova: EU support & education boost

Bulgarian Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov will be visiting the Republic of Moldova on July 27-28.

During his visit, the Bulgarian official will discuss the bilateral agenda with Chișinău authorities, focusing on Bulgaria's support for Moldova's European path and strengthening bilateral relations in education.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean welcomed his Bulgarian counterpart at the Government Building. The program includes a one-on-one meeting, as well as an expanded meeting with delegation members.

Following their meetings, Prime Ministers Dorin Recean and Rossen Jeliazkov will hold a joint press conference, according to a statement from the Chișinău Government.

Afterward, the officials will travel to the Taraclia district to meet with representatives of local public authorities.

Additionally, the heads of government from Chișinău and Sofia will attend the signing ceremony for the Agreement establishing the former Taraclia University as a branch of the "Angel Kanchev" University of Ruse, Bulgaria.

On Monday, July 28, Bulgarian Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov will also meet with Moldovan President Maia Sandu and Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu.

It's worth noting that in May, Bulgaria's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Georg Georgiev, also conducted a working visit to the Republic of Moldova. During that visit, a branch of the "Angel Kanchev" University of Ruse, Bulgaria, was inaugurated in Taraclia municipality.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and Bulgaria were officially established on February 5, 1992. Over time, the two states have developed a constructive dialogue, characterized by mutual respect and support in various areas. Bulgaria, an EU member state since 2007, has consistently supported Moldova's European aspirations, particularly in the context of the Association Agreement with the EU, which Moldova signed in 2014.
