Historic gold rush for Moldova at U17 weightlifting Euros
Another extraordinary achievement for Moldovan weightlifting! Nicoleta Cojocaru secured 3 gold medals at the U17 European Junior Championships, held in Madrid.
The Republic of Moldova's representative competed in the up to 58 kg weight category. In the "snatch" discipline, Sergiu Crețu's protégé lifted 85 kilograms, enough to claim the gold medal.
The young Moldovan continued her exceptional performance in the "clean and jerk" discipline, where she lifted 105 kilograms, earning her second gold medal. With a combined total of 190 kilograms, Nicoleta became the absolute European champion.
Nicoleta Cojocaru wasn't the only representative from the Republic of Moldova to stand on the podium at the European Championships for U15 and U17 athletes. Two other female athletes achieved remarkable results: Gabriela Danilova claimed a bronze medal, while Ecaterina Vîlcu won two gold and one silver.
The male athletes also delivered strong results: Dan Betca secured two gold and one bronze, and Dan Secrieru returned home with three medals himself: one gold and two silver.
