Popovici eyes new medal after pan's World Champs exit
After winning the world title in the 200-meter freestyle, Popovici also reached the final of the 100-meter freestyle event. In the second semifinal, David finished second, clocking 46.84.
The big surprise of the event was that China's Zhanle Pan, who had won the gold medal at the Paris Olympic Games with a new world record, missed out on qualifying for the final. David Popovici will compete for another medal at the World Championships on Thursday afternoon.
