Moldovan diaspora youth explore their homeland with DOR

Children of the Moldovan diaspora participating in the program "Diaspora. Origini. Reveniri" (DOR) will spend ten days exploring the Republic of Moldova and improving their Romanian communication skills through cultural, educational, and sports activities.

"There will be many interesting summer workshops, and we look forward to welcoming the participants. They will have surprise visits, special guests, and will get to know the country much better, as we will be visiting villages in Moldova. We will have trips in the capital, meet interesting people, and learn to dance in the traditional style, weave flower wreaths, make pottery, and do many other things," said Mariana Bunduchi, the principal consultant for the Bureau for Diaspora Relations, on Radio Moldova.

Mariana Bunduchi also noted that children often return after their experiences in previous years.

"We have a very high level of interest from children who have participated before because they make friends and connections here at DOR. Just ten days isn't enough for them to fully absorb the experience, and they are very happy to return. Or, at the very least, they ask us every year to either accept more participants or extend their stay," Mariana Bunduchi said.

This year, for the first time, the "Diaspora. Origini. Reveniri" program is taking place in two sessions: August 4-13 and August 16-25.

It is worth recalling that the "Diaspora. Origini. Reveniri" program, also referred to as DOR, was launched in 2013. It is dedicated to children and youth from both the diaspora and the Republic of Moldova and is held under the patronage of the Government of the Republic of Moldova, through the Bureau for Diaspora Relations.

The goal of this program is to establish an emotional connection with their home country and promote the preservation of national traditions and values.
