Moldova’s Ministry of Defense debunks fake AI video

In recent days, a fabricated video has been intentionally distributed on certain Telegram channels, which falsely claims to show footage from the "Fire Shield 2025" exercise.
The Ministry of Defense warns that the exercise is currently taking place from August 4-18 at the National Army's Training Center.
According to the same source, the video actually contains sequences manipulated with artificial intelligence, in which targets replicating soldiers wearing the flag of the Russian Federation on their uniforms appear.
"This video has no connection to this year's exercise. The other images are taken from the archives of international drills and exercises held in previous years, both in the Republic of Moldova and abroad (e.g., the USA). The aircraft, parachute jumps, the terrain of the training grounds, and other elements in the video do not reflect the reality of the 'Fire Shield 2025' exercise," the statement clarifies.
In this context, the Ministry of Defense urges the citizens of the Republic of Moldova not to fall for such disinformation. The purpose of these actions is to spread fear, undermine trust in state institutions, and destabilize society.
The Ministry urges people to get their information only from official, credible sources and to avoid content distributed by channels, websites, and pages that promote panic and division.
