Soroca Fortress sees more visits from Moldovans abroad

During this time, the Soroca Fortress attracts increasing numbers of visitors. Many of these visitors are Moldovans living abroad who bring friends and relatives to share the beauty and history of this medieval gem.

In August, the Soroca Fortress attracts more visitors compared to other summer months.
"I came from France and met with friends from Chisinau. We really wanted to visit the Soroca Fortress, and I am truly impressed. I have been out of the country for 22 years, and every time I visited Moldova, I didn’t have the chance to come here due to time constraints. This time, we made the decision to come."
"I have been living in Spain for 17 years. I came to Moldova with my husband to show him the Fortress and to discover a bit of Moldovan history."
"I urge everyone in the diaspora, as well as those within the country, to visit because we have wonderful places to explore."

The guides are prepared to discuss the fortress in several languages.
“The fortress was constructed with the help of Italian craftsmen.”
“I didn’t know that!”
“During the medieval period, craftsmen and architects from Italy were requested for their assistance. They came here and built the fortress.”
“We offer guided tours only for those who contact us in advance, allowing us to schedule all the groups effectively. Tours are available in several languages: German, English, Romanian, and Russian. We hope to enhance our guiding services in the future,” says guide Dumitru Ungureanu.

According to statistics, last year, while domestic tourism was declining, Soroca Fortress experienced an increase of 87 percent in visitors. We remind you that the medieval fortress reopened to the public after undergoing restoration, which was funded by the European Union. The total value of the restoration project was 900,000 euros.
