"Obscura Lux" exhibition in Chisinau by Moldovan painter Cezara Kolesnik

Painter Cezara Kolesnik, originally from the Republic of Moldova and now based in Brussels, presents the results of her recent artistic explorations in Chisinau. Her exhibition, titled "Obscura Lux," is hosted by the Cartego Art Gallery and is open for the general public to admire.

“I called it that because these three or four series of paintings find their meaning in the search for light through darkness. It’s a darkness our eyes must become accustomed to to perceive it. It creates a different kind of silence, a unique meditative state. Some of the paintings, which I created with difficulty, possess a depth that hasn't been there before. People explore my work and are captivated by the sequence”, says Cezara Kolesnic, fine artist based in Brussels.

Visitors have expressed their admiration for Cezara Kolesnic's artworks.

“An explosion of colors and textures. The predominant blue evokes a sense of tranquility, almost cosmic.”

“It’s very interesting and profound. You really have to search for meaning and understand what the painter wants to convey in terms of emotion.”

Fellow artists have also praised Cezara’s evolution.

Mihai Țăruș said, “Her style was more reserved, but now she has expanded her approach. She focuses less on the object and more on specific emotional states. That's interesting, and it's what I appreciate.”

Writer Mihaela Perciun added, “She looks phenomenal! This artist is absolutely transforming her painting style, showcasing entirely different visions.”

Filmmaker Dumitru Marian expressed his admiration, stating, “I believe Cezara is a very talented artist, and I’m excited that we have the chance to discover this new side of her.”

Alice Toma, a professor of Romanian culture and civilization at a university in Brussels, love the artist’s creations: “It’s absolutely gorgeous! I can’t help but revisit the same piece multiple times. It evokes such strong feelings—emotions of warmth and light. It’s a total spectacle,” she said.

The "Obscura Lux" exhibition showcases four distinct series by the artist. The final series is titled "Organik Bloom."

“The idea behind it is an organic bloom—a return to our connection with nature. It leans more towards poetry and is reminiscent of haikus”, explains Cezara.

During her stay in Chișinău, Cezara Kolesnic will conduct a painting workshop for those interested. She will also engage in dialogues with visitors at the "Obscura Lux" exhibition, which will be on display until September 28 at the Cartego Art Gallery.
