Shocking case in Cahul: a 17-year-old accused of murdering a 15-year-old
A 17-year-old boy suspected of killing a 15-year-old with cruelty last week was placed in preventive detention for 30 days, according to the Cahul Prosecutor's Office.
The victim, originally from the village of Andrușul de Sus, Cahul district, was declared missing on August 5. After two days of searching, her lifeless body was found in a river located outside the town.
Some media sources wrote that the murder was based on jealousy.
According to prosecutors, the preliminary examination showed that the victim's body had "multiple injuries caused by a cutting-stabbing object" and "traces of strangulation".
The suspect was identified on August 10, and law enforcement officers recovered several clothes and other objects that will be subjected to biological, genetic, chemical and technical-scientific examinations.
The authorities are to establish all the circumstances in which the crime occurred.
