Vocational education admissions: 16,500 places filled, thousands still available

More than 16,500 places for vocational and technical education have been filled for the 2025–2026 academic year, according to preliminary figures from the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC).

However, almost 4,000 places remain available across vocational schools, colleges, and centres of excellence.

A total of 20,468 places were offered for admission, with 12,297 funded by the state—including 2,134 for dual education—and 8,171 requiring fees.

In secondary vocational and technical education, more than 7,000 of the 8,718 available places across 114 training programmes have already been filled.

Similarly, more than 9,500 of the 11,409 allocated places for 106 specialisations have been filled in post-secondary vocational and technical education.

Dual education is attracting increasing interest, with about 1,700 applicants—a figure higher than last year. This type of training combines classroom-based theory with practical experience at companies, with students receiving a scholarship and a salary.

Applications for the remaining available places can be submitted until 10 September.

The new academic year will begin in 81 specialised institutions—32 vocational schools, 35 colleges, and 14 centres of excellence—the MEC says.
