EU to open new office in Moldova to boost integration

The European Parliament has announced it will open a new office in Moldova in September, aiming to act as a "bridge" between the country's legislative body and the EU.
Daniela Morari, Head of Moldova's Mission to the EU, said the decision was "very important" for helping to streamline the country's European integration processes. She said the new office would inform members of the Moldovan parliament on EU decision-making, with the aim of accelerating the harmonisation of national legislation.
Ms Morari added that the new office was necessary because the European Parliament is an "enormous institution" and it is "not always possible to get into all the details."
"We have moved beyond generalities and need to get into the substance and all these specific details," she said.
The office will be led by a "highly qualified" Romanian, Victor Negrescu, a Vice-President of the European Parliament, announced earlier.
