EPP President Manfred Weber: Moldovans want to join EU

Moldova has demonstrated its intention to join the European Union. The statement belongs to the president of the European People's Party, Manfred Weber, in an interview for Euronews România.

"The recent elections in the Republic of Moldova have confirmed the country's desire to move toward the West and join the European Union. This was evident with the re-election of Maia Sandu as president and through the referendum on establishing a pro-European orientation in the constitution. These actions send strong and clear signals," declared Manfred Weber.

The leader of the European People's Party also emphasized the support of European partners for the Republic of Moldova. "The presence of President Nicușor Dan in Moldova, along with the President of France, the Chancellor of Germany, Merz, and Tusk, clearly demonstrates our commitment to welcoming Moldova as a full member of the European Union."

Manfred Weber expressed his full confidence in the choices made by the citizens of Moldova in the elections on September 28: "This is our offer, and I have complete faith in the Moldovan people that this is the right path to follow."

As of now, a total of 21 electoral competitors have been registered for the elections: four blocs, 13 parties, and four independent candidates.
