President Maia Sandu will address European Parliament

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, will pay an official visit to Strasbourg on September 9. During her visit, she will deliver a speech at a plenary session of the European Parliament and hold several meetings with European officials.
President Maia Sandu will meet with officials from the Council of Europe, as the Republic of Moldova is set to assume the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers for a six-month term starting in November 2025.
The visit will also include a meeting with members of the Moldovan community in Strasbourg, as reported by the Presidency.
Maia Sandu's visit to the European Parliament is scheduled for the day before the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, delivers the annual State of the Union speech during a plenary session in Strasbourg.
We remind you that on August 27, during the Republic of Moldova's Independence Day celebrations, the Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, the Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, and the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, attended events in Chisinau. Additionally, on August 31, to mark Romanian Language Day, the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, visited Moldova.
International media and analysts characterized these visits as strong expressions of European support, particularly ahead of the parliamentary elections on September 28. These elections are viewed as crucial for the pro-Western direction of Chisinau, which is currently facing disinformation campaigns and destabilization attempts from the Russian Federation.
