Students in Moldova will have four vacations in the 2025–2026 school year
The 2025-2026 academic year, which began on September 1, is structured, as usual, into two semesters and four vacations.
Under the Framework Plan for primary, gymnasium and lyceum education, approved by the Ministry of Education and Research, the first semester is between September 1 and December 24, 2025, and the second – between January 9 and May 29, 2026.
Students in grades 9 and 12 will finish their courses earlier, on May 25, following the national exam period.
According to the same document, during the school year, students will benefit from four vacations:
• Autumn vacation: October 27 – November 2, 2025
• Winter vacation: December 25, 2025 – January 8, 2026
• Spring vacation: March 5 – 8, 2026
• Easter vacation: April 11 – 20, 2026
The Ministry of Education and Research specifies that the educational institution has the right to decide the beginning of the second semester: from January 9, Friday, or from January 12, 2026.
*"In the event of the decision to start lessons on January 12, 2026, the method of recovering the hours from Friday (January 9, 2026) is established by the educational institution until the summer vacation," warn the authorities responsible for education.
