Moldova’s National Army marks 34 years since founding

The National Army of the Republic of Moldova observes today, September 3, the 34th anniversary of its establishment. On this occasion, the Ministry of Defense organized an extensive program of commemorative and celebratory activities.

The morning began with the laying of flowers at the "Mother of Sorrows" monument within the "Eternity" Memorial Complex and at the monument to Stephen the Great and the Holy in the center of Chisinau. In parallel, ceremonies and protocol activities dedicated to the anniversary are being held in all military units in the country.

In addition to the official events, the Ministry of Defense has also prepared an event for the public. On Saturday, September 6, in the "Alunelul" Park in the Buiucani sector of Chisinau, an activity titled "Army is My Family" will take place, where visitors will interact with peacekeepers, athletes, students, doctors and military sappers.

The Day of the National Army of the Republic of Moldova is celebrated annually on September 3. This date marks the founding of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Moldova, created by presidential decree issued by the country's first president, Mircea Snegur, on September 3, 1991, in accordance with the Declaration of Independence. The National Army has the role of ensuring the protection of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova, being an essential pillar of the country's statehood.
