Defense Minister Nosatîi: National Army at 34 is undergoing ‘unprecedented’ modernization

The National Army is currently undergoing an unprecedented modernization process that encompasses all aspects of its operations. The primary goal of this initiative is to professionalize the military. This statement was made by the Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatîi, during an interview with Moldova 1. The interview took place following a flower-laying ceremony at the monument of Stephen the Great and Saint, located in the center of Chisinau, in commemoration of the 34th anniversary of the National Army's establishment.

"The modernization process covers all aspects and areas of activity. The government and the country's leadership have allocated additional resources to achieve these objectives, but, obviously, without the support of partners, this would take a very long time and, respectively, we would not be able to give the military the conditions, the equipment they need to fulfill their missions. So partnerships with international institutions, with strategic partners are essential for us to have a modern army, an army capable of fulfilling its missions according to its destination", stated Anatolie Nosatîi.

The official said that the central objective remains professionalization and the creation of the necessary conditions for quality training of the military.

*"Professionalization is an objective, but we do not aim for quantity, but for quality. Therefore, we emphasize the quality of training, for military personnel, professionals, and here we return to the chapter on modernization. Accordingly, we must create conditions for them, provide them with equipment. It is a complex process and I want to say that we have results and we will continue to work in this area," added the Minister of Defense.

Additionally, Minister Nosatîi sent a congratulatory message to all those who have served or continue to serve in the National Army.

"Today we celebrate the 34th anniversary of the creation of the National Army. In this way, I would like to bring a message of appreciation and gratitude to all those who, over the years, have served in the National Army, whether as conscripts, contract soldiers, civilian employees, those who from the first years of independence defended the integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova. I pay tribute to the veterans of the National Army, those who defended our country on the battlefield. Happy birthday, National Army, thank you for your service to everyone", said Anatolie Nosatîi.

We remind you that, on September 3, the National Army of the Republic of Moldova marks 34 years since its establishment. The institution was established in 1991 by a presidential decree issued by the first head of state, Mircea Snegur, in accordance with the Declaration of Independence, with the role of protecting the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
