Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces at 34th anniversary: We must preserve peace and freedom for future generations

"Peace does not maintain itself; it must be safeguarded daily through a capable and modern army," stated Maia Sandu, the President of the Republic of Moldova and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, in her message commemorating the 34th anniversary of the National Army's founding.

The head of state emphasized that to ensure peace and security, the country is investing in new equipment and facilities, as well as improving service and living conditions for the military.

"For peace to endure, any potential aggressor must understand that the Republic of Moldova is not defenseless. Therefore, we are investing in new equipment and facilities, as well as improved service and living conditions, social protection, and fair compensation that reflects the associated risks. The country cares for those who protect it," stated Maia Sandu.

The President congratulated the National Army on its 34th anniversary, noting that it is "an institution of courage and discipline, a symbol of devotion to the Republic of Moldova."*

She expressed her gratitude to the military, veterans, reservists, and their families, while also honoring the sacrifices of those who have fallen in the line of duty.

"For them and for future generations, we have the sacred responsibility to preserve peace and freedom," concluded the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

On September 3, the National Army of the Republic of Moldova will celebrate its 34th anniversary since its establishment. This institution was founded in 1991 through a presidential decree issued by the first head of state, Mircea Snegur, in alignment with the Declaration of Independence. Its primary role is to protect the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
