Teo Chiriac re-elected Writers' Union Moldova president

Teo Chiriac was re-elected as president of the Writers' Union of Moldova (USM). Other candidates, including writers Vlad Grecu and Traian Vasilcău, also registered for the position.

During the General Assembly of the Union, the issues faced by the guild were discussed, leading to debates and exchanges of ideas, which were often contradictory. The activity report and the report from the censors' committee were also presented.

"We aim to ensure the sustainability of ongoing projects within the Writers' Union while fostering innovation. Our vision is rooted in respect for the traditions and values that have established the Writers' Union, but it must also adapt to the legislative, cultural, and social changes occurring in society," stated Teo Chiriac, the recently re-elected president of the Writers' Union of Moldova, who is serving his second term.

The General Assembly of the Writers' Union is held once every four years. Poet Teo Chiriac was elected president of the Writers' Union of Moldova in September 2021 during that assembly.

Teo Chiriac was born on May 29, 1956, in the village of Coșernița, Florești district.
