Minister of Interior: MD–Alert System to be operational from 2027

The MD–Alert system will be fully operational by the end of 2027, according to the National Program for Moldova’s EU Accession 2025–2029. The statement was made by Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin in an interview with the Moldpres agency. According to the minister, the feasibility study has already been completed, and the project has entered its second phase.
“In 2026, the necessary procurement, installation, and configuration will take place, and the MD–ALERT system will be fully operational by the end of 2027,” the minister stated.
Daniella Misail-Nichitin said the new system represents “a very important step for the safety of each of us,” as it will enable immediate alert messages to be sent directly to citizens’ mobile phones in the event of risk situations.
“Essentially, in risk situations—extreme weather, major accidents, or other emergencies—you will receive alert messages directly on your mobile phone through telecom networks. The goal is to reach every person so that people can react in time and protect themselves,” Misail-Nichitin explained.
The Interior Minister also highlighted the importance of the partnership initiated with Romania this spring to modernize the 112 emergency service.
“The partnership we launched with Romania to modernize the 112 service primarily means greater safety and faster response for citizens. People will notice that when they dial 112, wait times are reduced, and the authorities’ response is faster and better coordinated,” the minister said.
Daniella Misail-Nichitin noted that the new agreement will bring European standards to emergency call management.
“The difference will be clear: a 112 service that is more user-friendly, faster, more efficient, and highly professional. This agreement enables us to implement the best European practices, train our teams, and utilise modern technologies, ensuring that every call is handled effectively, whether it involves fires, accidents, medical emergencies, or cross-border situations. With support from our partners in Romania, we are bringing European standards to the emergency services that every family in the Republic of Moldova benefits from,” she emphasized.
