Spain ranks in Moldova’s EU top 10 trade partners

Spain is one of the Republic of Moldova's key trading partners within the European Union, ranking 9th in the EU and 14th globally. In 2024, the total volume of trade between Moldova and Spain reached 168.9 million US dollars, accounting for 1.3% of Moldova's overall trade, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
In comparison to 2023, trade has decreased by 4%. Moldovan exports to Spain totalled USD 24.3 million, primarily consisting of sunflower seed oil (USD 14.3 million), fruit and nut juices (USD 3 million), demijohns and bottles (USD 1.2 million), wires and cables (USD 1.1 million), and grapes (USD 0.7 million).
Additional exports included wooden barrels, undenatured ethyl alcohol, carpentry products, and labels. Conversely, the Republic of Moldova imports pork, medicines, frozen fish, cars, and various other goods from Spain.
According to the Public Services Agency, over 50 enterprises with Spanish capital operate in the Republic of Moldova, with investments in share capital amounting to 427.3 million lei. Spain ranks 12th among the main investors in the Republic of Moldova by the volume of invested capital, as reported by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalisation.
