Russian ambassador summoned over Romania airspace breach

At the Minister of Foreign Affairs' order, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bucharest was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday. This meeting was in response to the violation of Romanian airspace by a Russian drone on September 13, 2025, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as reported by Agerpres.
The Romanian government has formally protested against what it deems an unacceptable and irresponsible act that violates Romania's sovereignty, according to a cited source.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Bucharest stated, "Such recurring incidents contribute to escalating threats to regional security. We have requested that the Russian side take all necessary measures immediately to prevent future violations of Romania's airspace. Romania remains in constant contact with its allies and other EU members."
Additionally, Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu announced on Sunday via the X platform that she will address Russia's actions at the UN General Assembly, urging strict adherence to international sanctions.
