Moldovan entrepreneurs visit Brussels to explore opportunities in the Republic of Moldova’s Growth Plan

On Monday, September 15, forty entrepreneurs from various sectors of the Republic of Moldova will commence a working visit to Brussels, invited by Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos.
The visit of the entrepreneurs is taking place against the backdrop of the European Commission's announcement on September 4, which allocated an additional 18.9 million euros to the Republic of Moldova through the Reform and Growth Mechanism. This initiative also aims to encourage companies from the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA), and the Republic of Moldova to explore investment opportunities within the country.
Over the course of two days, the Moldovan entrepreneurs will engage in several meetings with representatives from various organizations that partner with EU institutions to support small and medium-sized enterprises in developing countries.
The delegation of 40 entrepreneurs will begin their visit in Brussels with a meeting with Gert Jan Koopman, the Director General of the Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighborhood of the European Union.
On the first day, the entrepreneurs will discuss the Growth Plan for the Republic of Moldova, which is valued at 1.9 billion euros. They will engage with representatives from EU4Business, an initiative encompassing all European support for small and medium-sized enterprises in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine. They will also meet with members of GOPA, the "Society for Organization, Planning, and Training," which is a development consultancy that collaborates with the EU and other international organizations on development projects in developing countries.
Additionally, the entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to speak with Ambassador Daniela Morari, the Head of the Republic of Moldova's Mission to the European Union.
On this same day, discussions will focus on export possibilities and regulations within the EU, with representatives from the Directorates-General for Export, Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship, and Agriculture of the European Union.
On the second day of their visit to the European capital, the entrepreneurs will meet with Marta Kos to review the outcomes of their discussions with European institutions, examine the EU agenda concerning the Republic of Moldova, and address local issues related to the Union's policies.
Finally, the entrepreneurs will meet with Romanian MEP Siegfried Mureșan. They will also have the opportunity to visit the European Parliament building in Brussels and meet with officials responsible for implementing the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA).

We note that the amount of 18.9 million euros is added to the pre-financing of 270 million euros already granted to our country this year and targets investments of at least 10 million euros in priority sectors of the economy of the Republic of Moldova, such as energy, agriculture, industry, digital/IT, transport and logistics and health.
The Republic of Moldova is set to benefit from up to 1.9 billion euros in the form of grants and loans through the Reform and Growth Mechanism, over the period 2025–2027, representing the largest financial package offered to our state by the European Union so far.
According to data from the European executive, between 2021 and 2025, the European Union allocated grants worth over 1.2 billion euros to the Republic of Moldova.
